I’m trying to think of the last time I liked a bar this much but it’s been too long for me to recall. This place is like stepping into a wormhole, it’s so fun and takes you back to post World War II when tiki bars became a thing. I can testify why it’s hard to leave and thus be able to get a seat, lol! We were there for hours but it felt like a much shorter time.
The bartenders are all awesome, we had Mel and she’s the best. They genuinely love their job and it shows, and they are very knowledgeable. The drink menu is very inventive and expertly curated. They put a lot of thought into decorating the drinks AND making them taste good. I really appreciate a genuine bar that isn’t just phoning it in but actually putting care into each and every element.
The owner is brilliant when it comes to alcohol, he makes a lot of the recipes. I had their banana rum they make using ripe bananas and am still thinking about it days later. You need to order a shot of it if you like banana and rum.
Each drink comes with a bite of food, HOW COOL IS THAT? The food is tasty and is thoughtfully paired to what you are drinking. There is a snacking type food menu if you are feeling peckish.
I’m probably going to make a special trip back to Galveston just to come back here, so no worries if there’s a wait. I’ll just pitch a tent in the backyard of Daiquiri Time Out until a seat becomes available. Don’t mind me.
