We planned a girls beach trip to celebrate my best friend’s birthday and horse in the beach was the icing on the cake! Pete was so professional and attentive and we all felt safe in his care. The horses were wonderful and we had a great time making everlasting memories. The sunset ride is worth every penny.

My Mom and I just returned from our annual trip to Galveston and this time we went horseback riding. The location and getting there was part of the adventure but directions were clear and driving on the beach a new experience for us. Once there it was obvious that the horses were well-cared for and loved. We had a great ride on a fairly quiet stretch of beach, Pete made sure both horse and rider were comfortable and safe throughout the ride. Before we even left we already had a video and photo sent to our phone and my Mom was already asking if we could do it again. I would definitely suggest you read and sign both releases prior to your arrival. It just makes things easier. Highly recommend and I imagine we will see them again next year!

We had SUCH a great experience horseback riding on the beach! This was easily one of the highlights of our Galveston trip. The horses were wonderful, the ride was beautiful, and getting to ride along the beach at sunset was such a special experience. He was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and efficient the entire time. You can tell he really knows his horses and what he’s doing, which made us feel completely comfortable. He also took SO many beautiful pictures for us during the ride, which was such a nice bonus and gave us the sweetest memories to keep from the experience. I did see some reviews mentioning that communication can be a little difficult, and I’ll be honest, it did take us a little bit to get ahold of him too. But after going, I completely understand why. It’s a smaller operation with limited staff, he’s clearly very busy actually running the rides and taking care of the horses, and his prices are incredibly reasonable compared to a lot of similar experiences. For us, it was 100% worth being a little patient. We had an amazing time, felt like we got such a great value for what we paid, and would absolutely recommend them to anyone visiting Galveston. We would definitely do it again! 🐎🌅🤍

Had a fantastic beach ride. Pete is a very knowledgeable horseman. His horses were very disciplined. He paired my buddy up great for his first horseback experience. I've had horses all my life and the owner Pete was very knowledgeable, professional and right on point for making this experience safe and fun. I highly recommend anyone visiting Galveston to book a beach ride with Pete and his wife. Such a great experience!

We had an amazing experience with Pete and Galveston Island Horse & Pony Rides! Pete was incredibly accommodating, friendly, and patient with our family of four. Our girls had an absolute blast on the evening beach ride. Pete made the experience especially memorable by taking the time to keep our family together and safe along the beach while also helping us capture plenty of great photos and videos. It was such a fun and relaxing way to enjoy the beach and make memories as a family. Highly recommend Pete and Galveston Island Horse & Pony Rides; we’ll definitely be back!

I’m not the type of person to leave reviews at all because I truly believe there’s hardly ever any service that sucks so much that is worth warranting a review. DO NOT EVEN TRY TO BOOK HERE. 1 Star is honestly too high of a review. To start I took my girlfriend to Galveston for her birthday, since we had been talking about getting away from Dallas for weeks, we decided to go out on her birthday week, her birthday fell on a Wednesday, one of the things she always wanted to do was go horseback riding and I thought as a nice treat for her special day we would go out, well we come into Galveston Tuesday and were looking places up and we find this exact place and we check out their website and see that they’re open (apparently) Wednesday to Sunday, so Wednesday morning comes and I try calling 4 times to see if I can make reservations to go, well no answers and the voicemail is full so I’m not able to leave a message or get a reply, so since we’re sight seeing in Galveston I figured let’s drive by their physical google address and see if they have a physical location since on their website it says “walk ups welcomed”. Come to find out their address is incorrect so we waste a bunch of time chasing ghosts. We decide maybe they aren’t actually open since we can’t get a hold of them and we decide to try again on Friday since that’s the day Apple Maps says they’re open so we figured maybe it’s outdated. Well Friday comes and I call them and get an answer finally and try to set up a reservation to go riding, Pete says 3:30 is the only spot he’s got and that’s fine by us since we are doing it the day of, (to be fair how are you supposed to make reservations if they don’t answer their phones on any days other than when they’re open) and when I make the reservation he tells me he will send me a text with the information and that I need to call back to put my deposit in and confirm my reservation. Well I do exactly as he says I wait to get the text which took a few minutes to come through then I gave him a call back but this time no answer, knowing before the mailbox is full I decide to send a text message since now I know the number he called from can send receive texts and isn’t a landline. So I send a formal text like “hey I tried to call back didn’t get an answer I’d like to put in a deposit and set this up” and then me and my girlfriend go on about our day because we can’t just sit here and play phone tag with a company, either you want my money or you don’t. So we get out do the other things we planned on and 3pm rolls around and there’s no phone call back or anything so I had assumed he probably booked someone else in my spot or something since you know some other people have had these kind of horrible reviews, and at 3:10 I kid you not he texts me not to worry about paying until after and asking my eta, mind you I don’t even hardly know where the hell their physical location is at. So I text back seeing if I can do something tomorrow and obviously that just won’t work. Point of all this is that if you want to deal with a man with no concept of communication skills and no urgency to reach back out to willing paying customers, then book here at this place, if you hate money and wanna burn it on stupid reservations come book here, if you want to ruin your significant others birthday and hate yourself then book at this place. If none of that sounds like you keep your sanity and stay the hell away.

My wife and I had an unforgettable beach sunset horse ride on Galveston Island last evening. The staff was welcoming and professional, pairing us with great horses and making us feel comfortable right away. Riding along the shoreline with the sound of the waves and a cool breeze was peaceful, and the sunset was absolutely breathtaking—something we’ll never forget. The guides struck the perfect balance of being attentive while letting us enjoy the moment. If you’re looking for a unique and romantic experience, this is a must—5 stars all the way.

This was a great experience! Pete's love for his horses is very clear. Horses are very easy to handle and the ride is laid back. Highly recommend getting a reservation and seeing the beach and ocean in this way, this is a bucket list item we won't forget!

Horrible horrible experience. DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM. I got off my long flight got some rest. I was so excited to do the sunset ride so we got an uber followed the instructions and headed to the horses. We get there and the directions given were not clear I walked miles down the beach until we found the horses. Immediately the woman says she hates her job while I’m signing my waver the guy has a smart mouth I simply asked if we could go fast instead of being nice he got a huge attitude and said “I don’t want to be here anyway so you can do it my way or leave” I said I was fine walking but after all that he goes talks to the lady and comes back and says we smell like we smoked so we can’t ride! Mind you I have medical conditions I do not smoke or drink alcohol. I was simply judged by my looks I felt and they were just so rude. They kept my big deposit and left us stranded. I waited outside in the unknown for an uber for two hours. Worst horseback experience of my life and I have been on atleast 30 rides. DO NOT BOOK THEM THEY WANT YOUR DEPOSIT THATS IT I PROMISE.

A great horseback riding experience! Olivia was a fun guide to chat with, despite the incredible wind making it hard to hear (obviously not their fault!) I like to trail ride on every vacation no matter where I am. The horses here were very well cared for and obviously loved. One of the most relaxing trail rides I’ve ever had!

This was an amazing experience on the Galveston coast! Pete was amazing and we enjoyed learning more about life on the island! You’re allowed to take photos during the ride and relax while watching the ocean and taking in the views. Thank you Pete for this unforgettable moment!

Beautiful sunset ride with my daughters! We had such a relaxing ride. The horses are very happy and well loved. Pete was very respectful and knowledgeable. Sam, our guide, was so sweet and fun. I recommend paying the $10 to park at the resort across the street though because driving a mini van on soft sand was a little stressful with folks running on the beach. A great time was had! Thanks for the memories!

Take your own pictures if you want to preserve your memories. I really enjoyed our sunset ride. I was willing to give 5 stars but due to Pete's lackluster customer support I had to downgrade. I did not expect the video of our ride at the end. Pete told me to send him an email or a text and he would provide the still frames of our ride. I sent him a text with my email and never received a message back. I waited a few more days and called his phone and he still never sent them? A man is only as good as his word, unfortunately Pete's word is negligible. EDIT: UPDATE: Pete sent me a text message at 11:41 pm the other night complaining about my two star review of his non service. You earned those two stars and I'm editing and taking it down to one star for your disrespectful late evening text saying you would have sent pictures if I would have tipped you? I paid you almost $320 for an hour of your time. I might have tipped one of your employees, but as the proprietor I knew you were taking in all the money paid. I'm not sure if you have issues with low impulses, but it is never professional to text a client at that time of evening. Also, I'm sorry that you took offense to me telling you "God Bless" at the end of the ride. You being offended by someone wanting to bless you might be at heart of you and your companys issues?

My family and I did the sunset ride. Talk about beautiful! Pete was a great guy and the horses were also well behaved. The horse our daughter had was so gentle and kind. She really enjoyed this. I would recommend anyone in the area to support this business.

Our family enjoyed Galveston Horse and Pony Rides, 1 hour shoreline ride better than other horse rides experienced in California, Colorado, and Georgia. This adventure is worth booking and waiting for your turn! The beach experience was relaxing, and the horses were beautiful.

Five stars for prompt communication at several points of our planning and day-of event. A lovely experience overall. Note: ensure you allow plenty of time to navigate to the location and have flexibility should your reservation start later than expected. (If it doesn’t start on-time, wait! The experience with Pete’s wonderful horses at an awesome setting is totally worth your patience!)

Found this gem while Googling things to do in Galveston. Such a wonderful experience and perfect with that special someone. The evening booking is best as you can watch the sunset go down and the waves splashing in from the beach. I've been there twice now and will continue to go. Horses were a bit rough around the edges but the handlers were great.

My family (including kids ages 14, 10, 8) had a gorgeous morning ride on beautiful, well-trained horses and wonderful guides! I tried to make reservations several days in advance for the only day we were able to ride while we were in Galveston. That date was booked up, however, the staff went above and beyond by graciously offering to adjust their own schedules to provide us the opportunity to ride while we were in town. Gorgeous beach, beautiful horses and kind, friendly guides-I can't recommend this experience enough!
