This all happened last year in 2024, I am no longer in the spoI had a great experience taking lessons with Chris last year, chris was such a great teacher and had me riding on my first lesson! and I also had a great experience in the shop with the younger guy, Taylor, who was working there. Taylor was such a nice and helpful dude. This is a great shop and I recommend everyone stopping by when you're in town! This review is related to one individual employee, not the shop.
1-star for Bobby: After my lessons (in 2024) I went back to the shop to start purchasing all my gear and spent around $1,000 on a mystic harness, wet suit, Duotone bindings, and fins.
Bobby said the bindings would fit the board I had just purchased online (showed him a picture) so I accepted his advice and bought the more expensive bindings that he recommended.
After the board came in the mail I couldn't get the bindings to fit properly on the board but I was able to somewhat make it work and went out on the water and the screws immediately popped off while I was in the water, it was pretty scary. Later that day I returned to the shop and asked for some assistance and Bobby was absolutely no help, he first denied saying they would fit my board, wouldn't let me return the bindings because they got wet that morning, then he wouldn't even let me use his screwdriver to make another attempt at getting the bindings to fit. I was shocked I couldn't even use his screw driver after spending $1,000 at the shop... He said "This is an expensive screwdriver".
I went into the shop that afternoon completely respectful and didnt blame him for anything, I just wanted some help
The extent of his help was trying to sell me a new $1,000 board, rather than lending any assistance. I should have done more research on binding/board compatibility myself so I take responsibility as well.
This whole experience pushed me away from the sport and I no longer ride.
