I honestly don’t understand how this hotel has such a high rating. This is, at best, a run-down motel being priced like a 4-star hotel. It is extremely outdated and poorly maintained, yet charges rates comparable to Holiday Inn or Hilton, over $300 even in the off-season, which is completely unreasonable for the condition.
I booked this stay because I’ve visited the area my whole life and expected something vintage, charming, and well-kept. Unfortunately, it was the complete opposite.
The issues start immediately with the lobby, which feels unwelcoming and resembles a neglected storage area rather than a hotel front desk. Throughout the property, there are clear signs of lack of maintenance, including black mold, rust, peeling paint, filthy door frames, stained tubs, and old, damp carpet. The overall cleanliness and condition made the room feel uncomfortable, and we were genuinely concerned about potential bugs.
To be fair, the breakfast staff was friendly, and housekeeping seems to be doing their best with a facility that is clearly beyond repair. The location across from the beach is also a plus.
However, this property is severely outdated, overpriced, and misrepresented. If this were a budget motel at $60 a night, expectations would be different, but at premium pricing, this experience is unacceptable.
Don't be fooled by the stars or the price.
