We visit the Grand Galvez about 5 times a year. It’s our home away from home! This week was my birthday, and the pool bar servers went out of their way to help give me the best day ever! Daniela (sp?) was so very sweet!

Gorgeous hotel! Like stepping into a set of the Great Gatsby. Great service as well. Club GiGi on the beach was a nice perk, and the attendants there were all helpful and friendly. Same with the pool area. Wonderful location as well. Takes a trip to Galveston to the next level.

Came to stay for my birthday. Me and the other guests were extremely excited and drove a good while to stay there, our excitement was quickly shot down during our check in with lily (i believe that was her name). She was extremely rude and treated us as we did not deserve to be there. She laughed in our faces when we were asking questions and made us feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable. We tried our best to enjoy the rest of our stay but that definitely downed our mood. If you’re not dressed to the nines do not expect to be treated with respect from her! Bri and the other staff were very welcoming on the other hand!

Front office receptionist lily was very rude and disrespectful. Made my whole check in experience horrible. She did not make me feel welcome. To be honest I think she should not be the first thing you see when you walk into the hotel. Thankfully the other receptionist was very sweet I think her name was Bri. lily is disrespectful. I will be contacting management. Besides her almost ruining my stay the hotel was beautiful!

For the price of the rooms I thought the furnishings could have been more. Perhaps a suite like setting. More sitting room than a small kitchen like chair. Loved the shower!!

Beautiful luxury stay. Wonderful staff....friendly and helpful. Can't wait to come back. Stayed in room 502. Across the hall from where ghosts have been known to appear. I did hear noises but that's all. Love the Grand Galvez back to its original glory!!!! Thanks so much!!!

Very disappointed room booked was for water view- we did not get it. Promised a 500 plus square foot room - we did not get it. Ordered something from room service - we did not get it. Front desk staff could be rude and short. Paid $500 plus for a cabana on the pool side- it was dirty, and water leaked from back inside a container that was to hold drinks etc all over the place constantly. Getting my room cleaned took pulling teeth. The bar downstairs near front lobby the barista was rude. Made a smart comment to my husband that this wasn’t McDonald’s that I immediately checked her on. It seemed racially charged. This hotel though beautiful had so many let downs for me. Definitely disappointed as it was my
Birthday trip and hubby celebrated Father’s Day. Disappointed.. The good: room was generally
clean, some of the stafff like the pool staff was nice.

We loved our stay at this beautiful hotel. My family and I had a wonderful time. The service was incredibly friendly, from the lobby and pool to the beach and parking. Everyone was always smiling and ready to help (my daughter said she felt like a queen). It's a very peaceful hotel with a cheerful atmosphere. Just one small thing to mention: there's no walkway, which is a bit tricky when you're traveling with a baby like we were. Otherwise, we would love to return. Thank you!

My wife and I spent a wonderful week at the Grand Galvez, and it exceeded our expectations. The historic charm and old-world décor make this hotel truly unique. Everywhere you look, there is character, elegance, and a sense of history that you just don’t find in modern hotels.

The pool area was fantastic, and the swim-up bar was one of our favorite spots to relax. The hotel bar was equally impressive with great drinks, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere.

The highlight of our stay was the spa. We booked a couples massage, and it was absolutely incredible—easily one of the best spa experiences we’ve had. The staff was professional, attentive, and made the entire experience feel luxurious and relaxing.

As a fun side note, our room was located next to the famous haunted Room 501. While we didn’t experience any ghostly encounters (and honestly weren’t exactly seeking them out!), it added a little extra intrigue to our stay and gave us a good story to tell.

The service throughout the hotel was exceptional, and every employee we encountered was friendly and helpful. Whether you’re visiting for the history, the beach, the spa, or just a relaxing getaway, the Grand Galvez is a true Galveston treasure. We can’t wait to return.

This is a great hotel! We stay here exclusively when we visit Galveston. It is well appointed, beautiful interior, comfortable and the staff go out of their way to be friendly and to insure you enjoy your stay. We had an issue with our A/C which was fixed promptly by repairman Bryan (thanks Bryan!). Our room was dimly lit for old folks like us , but we managed. Our valet parking was great except it is not covered requiring a total car washing after coming home (bird droppings!) Maybe a covering to protect the vehicles in the future? Regardless we had a great time there!

This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Saw this beautiful pink hotel last year when we were in Galveston and decided I had to budget it for this year. Glad we did so wonderful this historic hotel is just like taking a step back in time. Wonderfully tapestry throughout. We enjoyed ourselves at the lobby bar and had a couple of our specials. One evening they actually had a piano man. Excellent customer service but as the evening progresses it gets a little busy and seats are hard to find. Our room was wonderful although just a little small which was to be expected but we had a gorgeous view of the ocean. We picked up coffee every morning from the lobby and had excellent customer service there too. Parking was a little tight if you do not choose valet parking. Some parking is on the side of the street and others in the back of the facility. For your convenience there is a parking garage located next door for those that don't mind a little walk. Blessings to all staff and guests for 2026.

In one sense stepping back in time but in another experiencing modern day world class service. Few recognize how challenging it is to achieve and maintain such an excellent service culture.

This was such a beautiful hotel and it looked just as nice in-person as it did in the photos. The entire staff (front desk, valet, pool, bar, etc) was friendly and helpful. The room was also beautiful and clean. The location was right by the beach and close to many restaurants and the Strand. I genuinely enjoyed my stay here and would recommend to anyone visiting Galveston.

Stayed here before a short cruise. What a grand old property. Lots of history and character. Food in the restaurant was very reasonable for such a high end property and was delicious. Highly recommend the breakfast shrimp and grits!!

I love this place. Upscale. Older clientele. Beautifully decorated. Amazing service. A bit on the expensive side but worth it.

Spa was lovely. Pool with cabana was fabulous. Worth the splurge to reserve a cabana. Everyone, guests and employees are friendly and fun.

They have a little part of the beach, that strictly for the hotel. Room service until 11pm. They bring drinks from the bar. NICE!

If I was going to be picky, the only downside was that the selection of TV programs to watch is limited
Also, in my room, not my friends, the outlets near the bed, where you'd want to plug in your phone charger, well, they were wonky. The plug just fell out. There was one that worked across the room on the desk though.

Overall, this place is too wonderful and charming to pass up. Already planning a future visit.

The hotel was lovely, the service fantastic, the food amazing, the views from the room amazing. The rooms look just like they do in the photos on the website. The hotel was very clean. The location is excellent right across from the beach and they have beach chairs on the beach. I love the fact that they took and old hotel and maintained it the original fashion. I did not find a single employee that was not helpful and smiling. Front desk, restaurant staff everyone was very helpful. Free coffee in the lobby which I was grateful for as I could not sort out the expresso machine in my room.

A beautiful historic hotel. The lobby was renovated in 2019 and they did an amazing job. The beach is just across the street. The hotel has a dedicated area on the beach with chairs and umbrellas. On site coffee shop with tasty cappuccinos and lattes. We got up early to get a coffee and walk on the beach. The landscaping and circle drive are immaculate. The view from the beach side of the hotel is amazing.

Good: Beautiful well maintained hotel. Clean and tidy. Close to everything. Hot tub pressure and temperature was nice. Heated pool was perfect temp. Pool hours were great. Spa was nice and services were good.

Bad: Low water pressure. Toilet was up against wall. Valet jumped into my car (while husband was checking in) without so much as a warning and moved my car (while I was in passenger seat reading), scared me half to death and felt in danger for a brief moment. Restaurant on site could be better.

Wonderful experience. The resort amazing room was smaller than I expected, considering I got a Deluxe king room. But overall, more than satisfied. This historic hotel has great views. A restaurant closes at 10 pm, and the bar closes at 12 a.m. I enjoyed this so much I forgot to take pictures. Definitely will be going back.
