Sugar Bean Coffee & Cream

Tried this place after seeing a Tiktok, the coffee was great, yet the service it’s terrible. The barista was unwelcoming and rude. There was no Hi welcome or anything. The couple in front of us got better service but I don’t want to make assumptions but the service was definitely different.

We got up to the register and asked what ice cream flavors they had as is a coffee and cream shop and very dismissively said we don’t have any, maybe the shop across has some i don’t know. Well we went and they did and great ice cream choices.

After seeing a few reviews I can come to the conclusion that if you fit what customer they want the service varies.

Definitely won’t be going back to it as much as the coffee was great that terrible service will affect the business until they learn how to treat customers.

I’m not from the area so after watching great videos of this place on instagram, I was very excited to visit! The coffee itself had great flavor, so no complaints about that. However, none of the baristas had a smile on their face nor greeted me as I stood at the register. They also didn’t seem to have a good system flowing when ordering drinks. After placing my order, I asked the girl if she needed my name and all she mentioned was that they will call out the name of the drink. WHICH IS TOTALLY FINE if it works for the coffee shop but it was pretty packed and everybody seemed to be ordering the same drinks so when they were calling the drink names out nobody knew if it was theirs or not.

This coffee shop has great potential to outside visitors (& locals) who see their videos/pictures on social media especially with the esthetic they have going on and having a friendlier attitude could boost the atmosphere overall.

On Father’s Day Sunday, we went here for some coffees and when arriving we thought it was a beautiful location and place. But the young lady at the register was not friendly nor welcoming.

When I first arrived the young lady at the register never even said a “hello or if you need any help let me know.” I didn’t even know they had a specialty menu until I noticed it on the counter. Also, she didn’t even bother to ask if I wanted a punch card, until I noticed it after I paid.

The staff overall was not welcoming.

A simple smile or hello doesn’t cost a thing.

the main draw for us was absolutely the location, decor, and overall vibe of the shop and surrounding buildings. it’s cozy, aesthetically pleasing, and a lovely place to stop and sit for a bit.

as far as service goes, it was… fine. not rude, but not especially warm or engaging either. after reading other reviews, it does seem like the level of friendliness may depend on whether you fit the baristas’ “ideal” customer vibe. we didn’t experience anything standout in terms of customer service.

drink-wise, everything we ordered tasted good. we mostly had frappes, which are solid and enjoyable, though they’re also harder to mess up than a standard latte. no complaints there—just nothing particularly memorable.

overall, I’d still recommend stopping here, especially if you want to experience Evia Village or enjoy the atmosphere. just go for the setting and the drinks, not necessarily for exceptional service.

Maybe it’s the Evia setting that gives off a more polished, exclusive feel, but that shouldn’t translate into snobby service. The area is beautiful, no doubt, but a little warmth behind the counter would go a long way. Galveston has its own laid-back charm, and Sugar Bean just doesn’t reflect it.

Cashier could’ve been friendlier, not outright rude but not polite or nice either.

Iced Lattes are terrible. No espresso taste at all. Not enough ice. Gave it to me overflowing out the top dripping everywhere, messing up my hands and shirt. Just tasted like lukewarm milk and I know lattes are milk heavy, I’m a coffee drinking expert, but this is beyond that and out of balance. Couldn’t drink it.

Now, let’s talk about the caramel frappe. It’s perfectly balanced, with just the right amount of sweetness and a rich, creamy texture that keeps me coming back. The caramel flavor is bold without being overpowering, blending beautifully with the smooth coffee base. It's easily one of the best I’ve had, and every sip feels like a treat. Sugar Bean Coffee and Bean isn’t just a coffee shop—it’s my go-to spot for great vibes and even better drinks.
