    What makes it fun

Built in 1890, this beautifully restored mansion, formerly known as the Victorian Inn and Schaefer Haus, exudes elegance with its antique furnishings and late 1800s artwork. Nestled in Galveston's historic East End, it's a short stroll from The Strand's shops and restaurants, making it the perfect setting for your baecation. Indulge in a complimentary chef-made breakfast each morning, featuring French Press coffee brewed with organic beans flown in from Hawaii. Enjoy nightly turn-down service, and an optional nightcap before retiring to your plush bedding. For added romance, opt for packages that include flowers, chocolates, truffles, or champagne awaiting in your room upon arrival.

My Husband found this B&B because our last name is also Schaefer and it was near the port where our cruise was out of, so we decided to stay here the night before we left. This place exceeded our expectations and turned us into avid B&Bers. It was the perfect temperature (end of February) so we were able to keep the windows and even the front doors open and feel the fresh air. It was so relaxing we even took a nap in the room after grabbing lunch at Hubcap Grill (great burger) and chatting with the bartender, Willie. The rooms were all so unique and decorated beautifully as was the lobby, dining area, social hour area and rest of the mansion. Our concierge, Aaron, was incredible. He gave us the history on the mansion and on Galveston and was a wonderful host at social hour where we got a complementary drink with the rest of the guests that were staying there as well and were all going on the same cruise as us.

Wonderful property and accommodating staff. The happy hour and breakfast were top notch. Location close to cruise port and transportation to the port was helpful. We were there when it was extremely windy and cold (wind chill in the 20’s and the room was a bit chilly but it’s a 100 year old mansion. I would recommend it to anyone visiting the area or taking a cruise.

Beautiful property. We stayed in the Theodore room, it was fantastic with huge doors and windows. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Stephanie at breakfast was great! Breakfast was delicious. They also let us park our car for free for the week of our cruise. 100% recommend.

We stayed here on a whim and we are hooked. The house, The Moody Suite, and the amenities offered are incredible - the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. The staff is great, especially Stephanie, who was a kind, warm and loving presence throughout our stay. Whatever they are paying her is not nearly enough - she treated us like family! The breakfast was delicious and we were so sad to leave. We can’t wait to stay here again!

Wonderful place to stay and relax. Awesome host who gave an interesting history lesson of the area at our get acquainted time. Thankful for the lower level room. My knees don't like too many stairs anymore. Thank you so much for the wonderful breakfast - don't forget to tip your hosts and servers!
