High price and small serving size. I’m accustomed with hibachi places being expensive, but usually you get enough to be full and take some home. This place barely gives you enough to not consider stopping somewhere else on the way home.

We walked in at about 5:30 for.dinner without reservations. We were immediately seated at a hibachi table. My wife made a coment to me about the chair should be a little higher for her. The hostess heard her and immediately returned with a cushion which was perfect and put a big smile on my wife's face. Great start! Our order was taken and drinks and salad were promptly served. While we ate our sushi, the chef came out and gave us a entertaining performance as he prepared our delicious meal. The hostess remained mindful of us and never let our drinks get low and making sure we had what we needed and any used dishes were promptly removed. Overall Excellent experience from the entrance to the exit.

Loved loved loved the food here. Everything was super yummy and the staff was very friendly/attentive! My only grievance is that ideas super loud in there, but it was a Saturday night, and that’s beyond the restaurants control! Would definitely eat here again!

Definitely the best sushi on Galveston island. The largest sashimi special available and all quality fish. The special rolls were delicious. Now I have to mention the hand rolls. Wow! What an experience, BEAUTIFULLY made and so so good. The staff were so nice and unbelievably prompt. The chefs obviously care about the food and presentation. Great job!

Great local place for sushi and hibachi. Enjoyed a basic dinner at sushi counter. Tempura and cali rolls. Nice staff. Very busy for a Thursday.

Food is good as always because we are locals and we have been customers for at least 7 more times. However we were treated very poorly without even a smile, a thank you or to ask for a water refills once. My wife was shocked that we even left a 16 percent tip.

Tonight was my birthday and I chose Yamatos. For more than 30 years I have ate at this establishment. I often consider it my favorite on the island. Hence why I chose it for my birthday dinner. Tonight was a disappointment. It started without the quintessential rice toss that I usually miss. The Choo-choo train and the little boy that puts out the fire. Then the rice was not prepared correctly missing the onions and carrots. The chicken had mushrooms although I asked for no mushrooms. I paid extra for double rice but didn’t not recieve a double serving. The chicken and steak were not prepared the same and lacked the teriyaki sauce. When I told Mrs. Lisa of my disappointment she did not do anything.

Yamatos never ceases to amaze. The fresh, tasty, and expertly constructed sushi is top notch. The service is impeccable and the atmosphere is relaxed. However, sometimes party animals can be loud.

Very good sushi. The service is well versed in gluten-free nutrition. There is even an extra menu with gluten-free sushi. We went there twice in 3 days because we enjoyed it so much.

Excellent Sushi restaurant! The Sashimi was so fresh and delicious personally recommend the yellow tail! Their specialty rolls were also very good and had some different combination i haven't had before. Loved the grasshopper roll! Can be a little pricey but that could also be because we ate so much!

This place was outstanding! Maggie our server was crazy awesome, we just asked for her to serve us what she would think we liked to eat and it did not disappoint! The chefs were also on point. I can’t recommend this place enough for atmosphere friendly staff and super delicious fresh sushi.

Chef Tony is the MAN! If y’all go to hibachi make sure you ask for him specifically! Always enjoy ourselves here! Freshest sushi on the island and Always a superb experience!!!
